Arrhythmia

A normal heart beat is a boon for us. But when it is slow or high it becomes a problem. Usually the heart beats between 60 to 80 beats per minute but when the rhythm goes down below 60 and goes up above 80 it becomes a problem and this condition is known as arrhythmia. The bradycardia and tachycardia condition is due the wrong functioning of the sinus node.

Types of arrhythmias

Bradycardia:- It occurs when the heart beats so slow that it is not able to pump enough blood for the body’s requirement. If left untreated it can cause tiredness , dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting. There can be several reasons for bradycardia like sick sinus syndrome and heart block etc when the body’s normal functioning is hampered due to a physiological condition.

Tachycardia:- It occurs when the heart beat is quite fast. But there can be a number of factors responsible for fast heart beat. Few conditions are atrial flutter when an extra or early electrical impulse travels around the atria in circular path instead of the normal one. It can cause chest pain and faintness.

Atria fibrillation:- This is the common form of tachycardia when the electrical activity in the atria is disorganized and rapid. The uncoordinated beating of the ventricles can cause light headedness and palpitations.

Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia:- This type of tachycardia is found in congenital anomalies and few adult conditions and is less life threatening.

Wolff Parkinsons white syndrome:- It is a condition in which an extra abnormal pathway leads to alternative cycles of fast heartbeat. It is a congenital abnormality.

Ventricular fibrillations:- It is the condition in which incorrectly timed signals can mislead the pathway and fibrillation or incomplete contract can occur.

Treatment

Ablation:- It is the process by which the normal rhythm of heart is restored and the correct pumping action of the heart is triggered. The two main types of surgical ablations are Cox-maze procedure and cardiac ablation without cuts.

Implantable pacemaker:- In these procedure surgeons implants an artificial device to control the electrical activity of the heart. The pace maker regulates the rhythm and the heart rate. The electrical signals of the pace maker makes the heart muscles contract and relax leading to proper functioning of the heart in a systematic manner.

Ventricular resection:- It is the surgical procedure for correcting the heart failure in cardiomyopathy. It includes reshaping and resizing of the heart muscles to restore the normal function of the heart.

Hence India is quite ahead than many other nations in the field of medical industry. You name and we have the procedure done by qualified specialist. Cardiac specialists who are working in the metro hospitals are approachable and can be called upon anytime for advice and support. Even small hospitals too have cardiac surgeons as it is such a common specialty. If you are looking for cardiac treatment opt India for the same.
